  1. Day 1 Arrival - Paramaribo

    Transfer by shuttle bus to your hotel in the heart of Paramaribo, where you will spend 2 nights. All nights spent in Paramaribo are in this hotel. When leaving Paramaribo for a multiple day tour, you can safely store part of your luggage here. No meals included (travel distance approx. 50 km).

  2. Day 2 Highlights of Paramaribo (city tour by bus)

    The historic center of Paramaribo is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Besides the iconic buildings such as the wooden basilica, the many ethnic groups that live here do characterize the city. By bus you will discover the rich history that lies behind the beautiful wooden facades of several buildings.

     

    Travel distance: Approx. 10 km/ 210 min. driving in the city and surroundings
    Meals: Breakfast (in hotel)
    Departure time: Between 09.30 hrs. & 10.00 hrs.
    Accommodation: Double room with air-conditioning and private bathroom
    Important notes: The Fort Zeelandia museum is closed on Mondays, so in that case we will not enter the building, but the guide will tell his story from outside. Most part of the tour you are on the bus en when we get out of the bus we walk 30 minutes on average. The tour ends around 13.00 hrs.

  3. Day 3 Paramaribo - Nickerie

    Discover the coastal districts of Suriname. From Paramaribo in a westerly direction – via the Saramacca and Coronie districts – to Nickerie. The inhabitants of each district have retained their authentic culture and economic activity resulting for each district to have its own unique character. The day program closes in New Nickerie, where you will spend two nights in a simple but cozy hotel.

     

    Travel distance: Approx. 250 km/ 240 min.
    Walking distance: Less than 1 km
    Meals: B, L & D
    Departure time: Between 08.00hrs. & 08.30hrs.
    Accommodation: Standard double room with air conditioning & private bathroom (Golden West hotel & casino, if available)
    Important notes: We make a few stops on our way to Nickerie. There are no sloops

  4. Day 4 Paramaribo – Nickerie

  5. Day 5 Nickerie - Georgetown (Guyana)

    Discover Guyana’s fascinating landscape when traveling from Moleson Creek all the way to Georgetown where you will spend 2 nights.

  6. Day 6 Kaieteur Falls (Option)

    A 50-minute local flight to the Kaieteur Nature Park features breathtaking sight over Guyana’s pristine rain forest. Kaieteur falls is nearly five times the height of Niagara Falls. This nature park is known for its white-chinned and white-tipped swifts, as well as the astonishingly colorful Guyana Cock-of-the-Rock bird. You spend 2 hours in the park before returning back to Georgetown. A city tour follows in the afternoon and
    the day program closes with a transfer to a restaurant.
    There will be no guide in the aircraft to Kaieteur Falls, but there is a local guide to welcome guests upon arrival at the Kaieteur Falls.

  7. Day 7 Georgetown - Paramaribo

    Early in the morning you take an international flight to Zorg & Hoop, a small airport close to the center of Paramaribo. Explore the city on your own. Don’t forget to visit the different cultural markets that are located close to your hotel.

  8. Day 8 Paramaribo - Kourou (Frans Guyana)

    A two hours’ bus ride takes you to Albina the border town with French Guyana a former penal colony of France. You will cross the Marowijne river by dugout canoe and arrive in Saint-Laurent du Maroni, where you will get a guided tour of the Camp de la Transportation, the former “Central Bagno” (prison) of French-Guyana. You will also visit the surroundings of this historical site and quickly notice the French influence. Next is a 2,5-hour ride to Kourou where you will spend 2 nights in a cozy hotel.

  9. Day 9 Iles du Salut – Duivels Eiland

    After an early breakfast we embark on a catamaran and set sail towards what is commonly referred to as “Devil’s Island” but is officially called “Iles du Salut” (Salvation Islands). The Salvation Islands are composed of 3 little Islands called Ile Royale, Ile Saint-Joseph and Ile du Diable. Unlike the two other islands, Ile du Diable is not open to the public. After an hour of sailing we arrive at Ile Royale, the main Island where we will spend most of the day Swimming, relaxing and visiting the remains of the Bagno. In the afternoon the catamaran brings us back to Kourou.

    Important notes: The boat trip takes 3 hours and vice versa. We start from the river and enter the sea; it can be a bit turbulent at sea, especially in the afternoon.

     

  10. Day 10 ESA Space Center - Paramaribo

    On this last day in French-Guyana we head to the Space Center and visit the different launching installations. This 3-hour guided tour brings you in the world of high technology and science. Afterwards you start your journey back to Saint-Laurent, Albina ending in Paramaribo where you will spend 1 night.

    Walking distance: Between 1 & 2 km/ approx. 180 min.

    Important notes: As mentioned in the warning right at the beginning, a tour at the space center will not be possible if a launch takes place.

  11. Day 11 A day to relax at the swimm

    A day to relax at the swimming pool or to go shopping in the city center. For adventurers there is an optional excursion to one of our well-known nature reserves, called the Brownsberg (during this tour you take a mountain hike to a small waterfall). Feel free to ask more information (tip: payments at least 2 days ahead)

  12. Day 12-14 Pristine Rain Forest - Upper Suriname area (Knini Paati)

    The Upper-Suriname area is known for its unique Maroon culture and its untouched Amazon Rain forest. The Maroons, descendants of runaway slaves, have settled in the inaccessible rain forest a long time ago, where they started a new existence. By their isolated way of life, they developed a unique culture with strong African roots.

    By bus and motorized canoe, you travel deeper into the jungle to an island that is transformed into a river resort. You will stay 2 nights at a jungle lodge that is not only popular for its massive water rapids and sandy beaches, but more for its serenity. This resort is unique because its intent is to let the local maroons profit from the growth of tourism in this area.

    Fill your days with adventurous excursions like jungle hikes, caiman spotting, hikes through authentic Maroon villages and boat rides through rapids. On the last day (day 14) you return to Paramaribo in the late afternoon.

     

    Travel distance: Approx. 200 km/ 3 hours’ drive and 1 hour by boat
    Walking distance: Between 1 & 2 km/ Jungle walk approx. 180 min. & village walk ca. 120 min.
    Meals: B, L & D* (Diner excluded on day 14)
    Departure time: Day 12 you depart from Paramaribo between 09.00hrs & 09.30hrs
    Accommodation: You stay in a comfortable jungle lodge with a double bed incl. air conditioning & private bathroom (air-conditioning only at night)
    Important notes: The jungle walks are along accessible trails, without slopes

  13. Day 15 Departure

    In the morning you are free to enjoy the pool or buy the last souvenirs. In the afternoon your airport shuttle leaves for the airport for the return flight.
