With the Ironman 4×4 off road adventure you can travel towards the West of Suriname where you will be guided past one of Suriname’s most impressive waterfalls, through serene and untouched natural areas.
There is a relatively high chance of spotting wild animals and the trip offers a perfect combination of nature, action and introduction to the Indigenous Culture.

Program
Day 1
- 08.00: Arrive at Ironman’s office for instructions and necessary information.
- On the road:
- The last supermarket you will encounter is 825 supermarket for Zanderij (about an hour’s drive). Here you can do any final shopping along the way (see Maps.me or Google Maps).
- The last Warung on Zanderij is “Kartini”, where you can buy lunch for the road.
- +/- 02.15 hours driving: Arrival at Witagron.
- +/- 1 hour drive: Arrival at Mozeskreek, where you can spend the night.
- It is completely optional whether you want to camp at Mozeskreek or continue towards Apoera.
- +/- 4 p.m.: Arrival at Mozeskreek to set up the tent for the overnight stay. There is a path leading to rapids where you can relax and bathe. During dry periods or stagnant water, always check the water and look carefully to see if there are any electric eels between the rocks.
Day 2
- At 6am you might hear howler monkeys
- +/- 09.00 you can depart for your onward journey to Apoera
- +/- 11.00 arrival Apoera
- You can choose to spend the night at the waterfront or in accommodation (optional)
- Kaboeri creek: this is where the giant otters are spotted
You start by carefully collecting all your personal items and trash. It is essential not to leave any waste in the rainforest as this can harm the animals and plants. You put all the waste in a sturdy bag that you will take with you when you leave for Apura.
Day 3
- +/- 09.00 you can leave for Blanche Marie, but along the way you can also choose to stop at the train hanger at Apoera
- +/- 12.00 you arrive at Blanche Marie (optional), you can choose in advance if you want to stay in the roof tent want to sleep or at one of the accommodations at Blanche Marie*
- You can spend your day relaxing at the resort, driving to the mother falls or walking there
*You can also optionally book an accommodation at Blanche Marie
Day 4
- This day it is time to return to the city
- It’s then time to return to the city and you start by breaking down the tent and gathering all your belongings. Please ensure that you leave the area tidy and take all rubbish with you. Once you’re packed up and ready to go, follow the rugged road back to town. Be careful while driving as the road can be challenging, especially when the weather makes it unpredictable.

- Visitors can choose to camp here during their journey to Apoera or continue driving.
Apoera: Apoera is located on the right bank of the Corantijn River, near the border with Guyana. It is a border town that is part of the vast interior of Suriname.
- The population of Apoera consists mainly of Indigenous Surinamers from the Arawak tribe. It is a relatively small community with approximately 3000 residents.
- Cultural Experiences: Apoera provides opportunities to connect with the indigenous culture of the Arawaks. Local communities can offer visitors insight into their traditions and way of life.
- Kaboerie Creek: In the vicinity of Apoera lies Kaboerie Creek, where giant otters are spotted. A journey along the Corantijn River with Kaboerie Creek as the final destination can be a fascinating experience for nature lovers.
