General information

During the Paramaribo bus tour, you'll visit various highlights in the city, including:

  • Fort Zeelandia: This former Dutch fort, situated in Paramaribo, was established in the 17th century to protect the settlement. Later, it was used as a barracks and prison. Today, the Suriname Museum is housed here.
  • The Petrus and Paulus Basilica: This wooden cathedral is located in downtown Paramaribo. Built between 1883 and 1887, it's entirely constructed from wood, making it definitely worth a visit.
  • Synagogue: This Jewish place of worship dates back to the 18th century. What makes this place remarkable is the mosque standing right next to the synagogue, further emphasizing the peaceful coexistence of all cultures in Suriname.

At the tour's end, the bus ride will continue to the southern part of Paramaribo, passing by the central market, the Kwakoe statue, and the lively neighborhood of Abra Broki, the residential area of the average working class. Then, we'll head north, where the upper-middle class resides, passing by the home of one of Suriname's wealthiest individuals.
