🌿 3-day tour
Tip: have breakfast at home and bring a bottle of water for the journey
Good to know: During the dry season, low water levels may require adjustments to the program. Sometimes you will depart directly after breakfast on the last day and have lunch along the way. Boat trips may also take longer, and occasionally it may be necessary to briefly step out of the boat and walk over rocks.
Day 1 Journey to Danpaati
Early in the morning, you depart from Paramaribo towards Atjoni. From there, you continue by motorized canoe along the Upper Suriname River to Danpaati River Lodge. Along the way, you will see daily life along the river slowly passing by.
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and receive an explanation of the program. Afterwards, there is time to enjoy lunch, settle into your cabin and explore the surroundings.

Day 2 Culture and river experience
Today you will get acquainted with the village of Dan and the Saramaccan Maroon culture. The guide will tell you more about the lifestyle, traditions and customs of the local community.
In the afternoon, there is time to swim, relax or book optional activities. In the evening, you head out by boat to spot caimans along the river. With clear skies, you can also enjoy a beautiful starry night.

Day 3 Forest walk and return journey
After breakfast, you will enjoy an adventurous forest walk. During the hike, you will learn more about medicinal plants, trees and the rainforest ecosystem.
After lunch, you return by boat to Atjoni and continue by bus back to Paramaribo.

Day 1 and 2
The program for day 1 and 2 is similar to the 3-day tour, including the journey to Danpaati, the island tour, swimming at the natural jacuzzi, village walk, local meals and evening excursion.
Day 3 Forest walk and Maroon Museum
Today you will enjoy a forest walk and, depending on the program, visit the Saamaka Maroon Museum in Pikin Slee. Here you will learn more about the history, traditions and craftsmanship of the Saramaccan Maroon community.

Day 4 Relaxation and departure
On the final day, there is still time to enjoy nature, swim, kayak or simply relax in a hammock. Afterwards, you travel back to Paramaribo by boat and bus.
