After breakfast (which can be later if desired), start your bike ride to the next destination, “Peperpot,” where you will stay for the next 2 nights at Boutique Hotel Peperpot. In the old coffee warehouse, there is an opportunity to do fitness.

    Nature Park Peperpot

There are paths through part of the Nature Park where you can cycle and walk. It is also possible to rent a kayak from the hotel and sail through a canal that runs along the nature park. This park is a haven for birdwatchers and lovers of monkeys. Various animal species inhabit the park. If you’re lucky, you might spot a sloth!

    – Travel distance: Approx. 4.3 km

    – Walking distance: 3 km / 180 min.

    – Meals: Breakfast

    – Special remarks: Entrance to the Nature Park can be paid at the reception.

    – Special remarks: Boat crossing is not included in the price.

    Day 6: Fredberg

Your journey begins by bus from Paramaribo towards the base camp of the Fredberg, where you will arrive about 4 hours later after some stops. To reach this base camp, approximately 24 km northwest of Atjoni, you will drive the last 90 minutes through the almost impenetrable Surinamese rainforest. After lunch at this camp, you can put on your jungle clothing because it’s time to climb to the top of the Fredberg. With a normal condition, you will walk for about 3 to 4 hours through the pristine rainforest to reach the top. The mountain top offers a beautiful view where you can enjoy the entire evening, as this is also your overnight spot for the night. More than a simple hammock camp is not needed to enjoy the sunset and the starry sky in this special place.

    – Travel distance: Not specified

    – Meals: Lunch & dinner

    – Departure time: 06:45 AM

    – Accommodation: In a hammock on the mountain (mosquito net available)

    – Special remarks:

    Day 7: Fredberg

It’s worth getting up early from your

hammock for one of the most beautiful sunrises in Suriname. Experience from the highest point how the rainforest below you wakes up. Enjoy the sounds of howler monkeys and colorful birds flying by. The cook will provide a hearty breakfast, so you can face this day with enough energy. Accompanied by an expert guide, you will explore the other side of the mountain this morning via the jungle path in search of the rare orange rock chickens. The forest walk ends at the base camp, where cold drinks and an extensive lunch are ready for you. The rest of the afternoon, you can undertake activities around the base camp such as throwing a fishing line*, kayaking, and diving into the water with a Tarzan swing (only in high water). After sunset, you will venture into the rainforest again. As soon as the sun sets, the rainforest comes to life with a completely different group of nocturnal animals emerging. Visitors often say that experiencing the jungle at night on a dark path with only a flashlight is a different and unforgettable experience. The evening ends with a campfire, after which you can dive into a bed (instead of a hammock).

    – Travel distance: Approx. 180 km

    – Meals: B, L & D

    – Accommodation: Shared accommodation, bath & toilet. Note: Limited comfort

    – Special remarks:

Days 8-10: Fredberg – Jaw Jaw Maroon Village

On this last morning at the Fredberg, you can choose to go with a guide in the area in search of monkeys, or you can choose to swim and relax by the water. After lunch, it’s time to pack your belongings and start your journey to Jaw Jaw.

You will travel by bus and motorized tent boat further into the rainforest via the Upper Suriname River to the special Maroon village Jaw Jaw, where you will stay for the next nights.

In this area, there are many Maroon villages where the descendants of escaped slaves live. The hospitable population is particularly proud of its culture and is eager to introduce us to the centuries-old customs and traditions. Due to the isolated life deep in the rainforest, these have remained untouched. In this part of the river, there are impressive rapids, and at low water, small sandy beaches emerge.

The next 3 days will be filled with adventurous activities such as intensive forest walks, village walks, boat trips, and spotting caimans by boat in the evening!

    – Travel distance: Approx. 200 km

    – Walking distance: Approx. 2 km / 120 min. (both the village and forest walk)

    – Meals: B, L & D

    – Departure time: Between 09:30 AM and 10:00 AM

    – Accommodation: 2-person simple lodge (no air conditioning), but with private bath & toilet

    – Special remarks: The boat trip to Jaw Jaw takes about 45 minutes at normal water levels. The village walk can sometimes be shorter, depending on the guests’ interests.

    Day 11: Back Home

In the morning, you are free to buy the last souvenirs. In the afternoon, you will depart with the airport transfer to the airport for your return flight.

    • Travel distance: Approx. 50 km / 60 min.
