Location and Accommodation
Awarradam Jungle Lodge is located in the beautiful interior of Suriname, at the foot of the Awarradam rapids. The lodge is built in traditional Saramacca style and is situated on an island.
Sustainable Principles
Environmentally friendly principles are applied at the lodge. The staff are friendly Maroons from the Saramacca tribe. Comfortable accommodation: in the evenings, the cool air creates a pleasant atmosphere, and mosquito nets are used for protection against mosquitoes. Lighting is generated by solar energy, and meals are prepared over a wood fire with local ingredients.
Surroundings and Activities
Diverse activities include a visit to the "Peti" rapids, where guests can enjoy a refreshing water massage and relax in hammocks. Jungle hikes, river trips, and visits to local communities provide insight into the rich local culture and natural environment. Opportunities for swimming, paddling, or relaxing in the jungle spa are also available.
