🍃 Ready for a true jungle experience?

Day 1 – Journey to Awarradam

Your adventure begins with a spectacular flight from Zorg & Hoop to Kajana. From above, you will enjoy endless views of the rainforest. After landing, you continue by canoe along the Gran Rio, surrounded by towering trees, vines, and jungle sounds. Upon arrival at Awarradam, you are warmly welcomed.

  • Flight from Paramaribo to Kajana

Day 2 – Discover the jungle

Today is all about nature and adventure. Experience the jungle awakening from the water and explore the forest with your guide.

Day 3 – Traditions and village life

Where is Awarradam located?

Awarradam Jungle Lodge is located in the beautiful interior of Suriname, at the foot of the Awarradam rapids. The lodge is built in traditional Saramaccan style and is situated on an island.

Is the tour physically demanding?

The walks and activities are suitable for anyone with a normal level of fitness. There is plenty of time to relax, and you can decide how active you want to be.

Yes, the rapids used for swimming are calm enough to be safe. The water is clear and suitable for swimming and relaxing. During the dry season, swimming in the rapids may not always be possible.

What is a “korjaal”?

A korjaal is a long, narrow wooden canoe commonly used on Suriname’s rivers. It is stable and used for transporting people and luggage during the tour.

What if it rains during the tour?

Rain is part of Suriname’s tropical climate and makes the jungle even greener and more vibrant. Showers are usually short and followed by clear weather.
