Tour Information

Program: Bigi Pan Stay

Day 1: Arrival and Adventure

  • 07:00 – 08:00: Departure from Paramaribo by bus to Nieuw Nickerie. (Please note: there is no guide present during the bus ride; you will meet your guide upon arrival in Nickerie.)
  • ± 1 hour sailing: Crossing from the jetty to the resort.
  • 13:30: Arrival and lunch.
  • 19:30: After dinner, you will go on an exciting evening excursion to spot caimans and snakes by boat.

Day 2

  • Before the sun rises, you can enjoy the surroundings
  • Bird tour
  • Breakfast
  • The rest of the morning you are free to canoe, catch crabs* in the traditional way or just relax
  • In the afternoon, an extensive boat trip
  • In season, this trip ends at the sleeping place of the migratory birds. You will experience a magical event, where thousands of birds color the sky.
  • Dinner

*Optional: request in advance

Day 3

  • After breakfast, you can spot birds or sunbathe and enjoy the view.
  • Shortly after lunch, you will leave for Paramaribo

16 luxury detached lodges

The spacious lodges (50m2) have a large balcony, where you have a beautiful view over the lake and can enjoy a spectacular sunset or sunrise. Each lodge is furnished for 3 people and has its own bathroom and toilet.

Facilities

Akira has a spacious restaurant where fresh meals are prepared daily. Your dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.) are taken into account when preparing meals.

Electricity is available 24 hours a day. The electricity is generated by solar panels. The electricity supply is 110 Volt.

To continue to improve Akira and make your stay even more comfortable, we are proud to announce that our 8 beautiful lodges are now equipped with air conditioning. These ACs are powered entirely by 100% green energy, thanks to a valuable investment in the expansion of our sustainable solar system.

Additional information:

  • All rates are based on double occupancy per lodge.
  • Departure days for a 3-day stay: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
  • Departure days for a 2-day stay from Nickerie: every day.
  • Single fee supplement €35,- per night.
  • If you choose a room with air conditioning, we will charge you an AC supplement of €30,- per night per room.
  • A discount applies to residents upon presentation of proof of residency. Inquire or email for the resident rate.
