❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is this tour suitable for children?
This tour is mainly suitable for older children who enjoy nature and adventure. For younger children, the long travel distances may be less comfortable.
Do I need to be physically fit?
A normal level of fitness is sufficient. The tour is not physically demanding, but it is adventurous. You will travel long distances and stay in the middle of nature, with walks and activities on natural terrain.
What makes Blanche Marie so special?
How amazing is it to admire this gigantic waterfall complex with your own eyes? When water levels are right, you can enjoy swimming and even experience the waterfall as a natural massage. This makes Blanche Marie one of the most impressive natural attractions in Suriname.
Will I see wildlife during the tour?
Because the Western Suriname region is so untouched, the chances of spotting wildlife are very high. The fewer people living in an area, the greater the chance of seeing animals. Spot sloths, howler monkeys, snakes and, if you are very lucky, even a jaguar or tapir.
Is there mobile coverage during the tour?
Around Blanche Marie there is little to no mobile coverage. Sometimes there is signal in villages or larger settlements along the route, but not during the journey to the waterfalls themselves.
What happens if it rains during the tour?
Rain is part of Suriname’s tropical climate and actually makes the rainforest even greener and more vibrant. Often, showers are short and followed by clear weather again.
Tours generally continue as planned and our guides will ensure the program runs as comfortably as possible.
