5-day program
Day 1:
- Depart from Paramaribo to the Palumeu resort by plane.
- In the afternoon, embark on an adventurous canoe trip to Palawa Island, with a stopover at the indigenous village of Palumeu.
- Experience authentic village life during the walk back to your accommodation.
- In the evening, receive detailed instructions for the upcoming expedition to the Kasikasima Mountains.
Day 2:
- The canoe trip, ranging from 3 to 7 hours depending on water levels, includes a lunch break.
- Disembark at the Trombaka Sula for a short hike.
- After the Sula, the canoe awaits to take you to the base camp, where you arrive late in the afternoon.
- The guide shares insights on sleeping comfortably in a hammock.
- After dinner, most guests retire early in their hammocks to be energetic for the upcoming climb.
Day 3:
- The unique jungle hike and climb to a peak of the Kasikasima Mountains is an unforgettable experience of about 7 hours round trip.
- An hour at the top offers breathtaking views of the Amazon rainforest from the plateau.
- In the afternoon, return to base camp for dinner and, weather permitting, relaxation around the campfire.
Day 4:
- By canoe, the boatmen return you to Palumeu, with a picnic along the way.
- With sufficient water levels, you can paddle parts of the route traditionally, without a motor.
- Between arrival and dinner, you have free time for personal activities.
Day 5:
- Early in the morning, drift on the river by boat to silently experience the awakening of the rainforest.
- After breakfast, visit the indigenous village of Palumeu, led by your guide.
- Here you can purchase handmade crafts from the local residents.
- In the afternoon, fly back to Paramaribo, concluding this adventurous expedition.
8-day program
Day 1:
- Departure from the local Zorg en Hoop airport to the airstrip at the Indian village of Palumeu.
- Welcome by staff to the holiday resort, close to the village of Palumeu.
- Check in at the guest accommodation and depart for Palawa Island for a picnic lunch.
- Visit to the Indian village of Palumeu and introduction to the oldest inhabitants of the Amazon forest.
- Recognizing the eco principles of the place, with expert Trio and Wajana Indians.
- Information from the guide about safety, comfort and respectful use of the jungle.
Day 2:
- Joint effort in loading the canoe.
- Canoe trip on the Tapanahony River and the Palumeu River to Kamakabari camp.
- Lunch prepared by the accompanying chef and furnishings of the hammock camp.
- Time for swimming, massages in the rapids (if possible) and fishing.
Day 3:
- Together break camp and travel to the Kasikasima base camp at the Sawaniboto waterfall.
- Guiding the canoe through various rapids, possibility to help in shallow spots.
- Unload at the Trombakasula, carry stuff over a hill on foot.
- Arrival at the base camp, relaxation after hanging the hammocks.
- Preparation for the climb to the top of the Kasikasimage Mountains.
Day 4:
- Strong jungle trek to the foot of the Kasikasimage Mountains.
- Guide points out sounds and footprints, information about the mythical power of the mountains.
- Possibility to see the cock of the rock at the foot of the mountain.
- Climb to the top with views over the Amazon rainforest, lunch on the plateau.
- Adventurous descent and relaxing massage in the cool water of the rapids.
Day 5:
- Forest walk to the Kodebaku waterfalls with explanation about flora and fauna.
- Enjoy the water spectacle and visit the nearby Indian camp.
- Lunch at base camp and free time for personal activities.
- Evening trip on the river to enjoy the night jungle sounds.
Day 6:
- Early morning boat ride to experience jungle awakening.
- Free day at your own leisure: walk in the woods, swimming, practice bow and arrow shooting, paddling, or fishing.
Day 7:
- Break off camp and return to Palumeu, downstream with the chance of spotting animals.
- Lunch served along the way and arrival in Palumeu for a well-deserved drink.
- Farewell to the cook and boatmen after dinner.
Day 8:
- Tour of the village led by the guide, opportunity to buy handmade souvenirs.
- Flight back to Paramaribo after lunch.

Plane
Kasikasima is one of the places in Suriname that can only be reached by plane. The flight takes you to the true untouched nature of Suriname. It is a piece of unspoiled rainforest. Besides the expedition, flying over the jungle is already an experience in itself.
