Did you know that the Peperpot Nature Park also has a lot of wildlife? For example, during the day you can spot animals such as monkeys, sloths and many different birds. And when night falls, nocturnal animals such as snakes, spiders, frogs and caimans come to life.

Transportation
Transportation is not included in the tour. However, Orange Travel can arrange a taxi for you for €40 per taxi. This taxi will bring you from Paramaribo to Peperpot and pick you up again after the tour.
Kayaking
The tour starts at 4:30 PM from the Peperpot Boutique Hotel. Here, you’ll step into your kayak and paddle with an experienced guide through the creeks of Peperpot. As you glide under large trees, your guide will do their best to help you spot wildlife. Especially as dusk sets in, many animals become active as they begin to search for their sleeping spots for the night.
Birdwatching Tower
Once you reach the birdwatching tower, you’ll leave the kayaks behind and continue on foot. You’ll climb the tower and enjoy a whole new perspective over the nature park. There’s a good chance you’ll spot even more wildlife here. As night falls, you’ll take a short walk through the park before gradually heading back to the kayaks.
Kayaking in the Dark
You’ll return along the same route — but the experience will be completely different in the dark. As night sets in, nocturnal animals such as snakes, spiders, and caimans come out. With your headlamp, you’ll try to spot as many of these night creatures as possible, with the help of your guide. Around 11:00 PM, you’ll arrive back at the starting point, where you’ll be treated to a snack and a cold bottle of water.

🎒 Meeneemlijst – Peperpot Kajaktour
Essentiële items:
- Hoofdlampje: Helpt bij het spotten van nachtdieren tijdens het kajakken en de terugtocht in het donker.
- Gesloten schoenen of laarzen: Beschermen tegen slangen en bieden grip op modderige paden. Houd rekening met natte voeten tijdens het kajakken.
- Lange broek (verplicht): Verplicht om u te beschermen tegen insecten, planten en dieren. Zonder lange broek is deelname niet toegestaan.
Bescherming:
- Regenkleding: Voor onverwachte regenbuien.
- Muggenmelk: Bescherming tegen insectenbeten tijdens de tour.
- Waterflesje: U ontvangt pas een flesje water na afloop van de tour, dus neem zelf een extra flesje mee.

🛶 Tourbeschrijving – Peperpot Kajaktour
Transport
Transport is niet inbegrepen bij de tour. Orange Travel kan op verzoek een taxi voor u regelen voor €40,- per rit. De taxi brengt u vanaf Paramaribo naar Peperpot en haalt u na afloop van de tour ook weer op.
Kajakken
Om 16:30 uur start de tour vanaf het Peperpot Boutique Hotel. Hier stapt u in een kajak en vaart u samen met een ervaren gids door de kreken van Peperpot. U peddelt onder grote bomen door terwijl de gids onderweg zijn best doet om wildlife te spotten. Vooral tijdens de schemering worden veel dieren actief op zoek naar hun slaapplek voor de nacht.
Vogeltoren
Bij aankomst bij de vogeltoren verlaat u de kajak en vervolgt u de tour te voet. Na het beklimmen van de toren geniet u van een uniek uitzicht over het natuurgebied. Ook hier is de kans groot om bijzondere dieren te zien. Vervolgens maakt u een korte wandeling door het bos terwijl het langzaam donker wordt, op weg terug naar de kajaks.
Kajakken in het donker
De terugtocht per kajak ervaart u heel anders: het is inmiddels donker en de nachtdieren zijn actief. Slangen, spinnen, kaaimannen en andere nachtelijke dieren kunnen nu worden waargenomen. Met behulp van uw hoofdlampje en de expertise van de gids probeert u zoveel mogelijk van deze dieren te spotten. Rond 23:00 uur eindigt de tour weer bij het startpunt, waar u wordt getrakteerd op een snack en een koel flesje water.
