❓Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is spotting sea turtles guaranteed?

Spotting sea turtles remains a nature experience and depends on the season, tides and natural conditions. Although the chances are high during nesting season, we cannot guarantee that you will see them.

Please note: we do not offer refunds if no wildlife is spotted (such as dolphins, sea turtles, sloths or monkeys), or if natural moments such as sunrise or sunset are not visible. Tours also continue in rainy weather, as this is part of the natural environment.

What is the best period to see sea turtles?

The nesting season usually runs from February until mid-July, with the highest chances of sightings in April, May and June. Please note that this may vary slightly each year.

What time does the turtle excursion take place?

The excursion takes place in the evening. The exact timing is determined by the guide.

Is the visit to Saint-Laurent included?

Depending on the schedule, a visit to Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni (French Guiana) will take place on either the first or last day.
The entrance fee for the bagno is approximately €8 per person and is not included.

Do I need to bring my passport?

Yes, bringing your passport is mandatory, including for checkpoints along the route.

How comfortable is the accommodation?

The accommodation is basic and simple, fitting the natural surroundings. You stay in the middle of nature with limited facilities, but with plenty of peace and an authentic experience.

What happens if it rains during the tour?

Rain is part of Suriname’s tropical climate. Tours generally continue as planned. In extreme conditions, the program may be adjusted.
This does not entitle participants to refunds or compensation.

How large are the groups?

We usually work with small to medium-sized groups. Groups may be combined in order to guarantee departure. Would you prefer a private tour? Feel free to let us know!

Is the tour suitable for children or elderly travelers?

Yes, as long as you are reasonably mobile. Please keep in mind that there is some walking involved and that the turtle excursion takes place in the evening.
