Day 1: Arrival Paramaribo
Transfer by shuttle bus to your hotel in the heart of Paramaribo, where you will stay for the next 3 nights. All overnight stays in Paramaribo are in a hotel. If you leave Paramaribo for a multi-day tour, you can safely store part of your luggage here.

Day 2: Peperpot Plantation
District Commewijne flourished in the 19th century due to coffee and cocoa plantations. During your visit to Peperpot (one of the well-known plantations in Suriname), you get a glimpse into the old coffee factory, plantation houses, and the villages.

Walking distance: Between 3 and 5 km / 150 min.

Day 3: Paramaribo City Tour
The historic center of Paramaribo is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In addition to the unique wooden buildings, the ethnic groups living here are characteristic of the city. You discover the rich history hidden behind the beautiful wooden facades of the buildings.

Special features: On Mondays, Fort Zeelandia is closed, so we cannot go inside. The guide will tell his story from the outside. You do not walk continuously for 2 km (most of the tour, we are in the bus, and for the rest, we walk about 20 minutes per section).
Day 4: Brownsberg – Afobaka
Brownsberg (mountain top 500m) has rich biodiversity and, besides the impressive plant and animal kingdom, offers an overwhelming view of the reservoir. During an informative forest walk, you pass idyllic waterfalls and come face to face with various exotic animals.

Day 5: Afobaka – Berlin
After an adventurous morning full of optional activities (e.g., boat trip on the reservoir, forest walk, and fishing), you travel to the village of Berlin in the Para district, where the well-known Sabakoe creek flows by. By now, you already feel completely at home in the forest, and tonight and tomorrow night, you will have a pure jungle experience at Palulu camping.

Day 6: Berlin
You have a free day in the Savannah area around Zanderij. Your simple accommodation is located along a creek where it’s delightful to take a refreshing dip. You can also take a walk in the wooded area, for example, to the nearby village of Berlin.

Day 7: Paramaribo – Raleigh Falls
In the morning, you depart from Paramaribo on a bumpy laterite forest road to Witagron (village of the Kwinti Maroon tribe). A korjaal awaits you here, and you begin a boat trip on the rugged Coppename River to Raleigh Falls. Raleigh Falls is located in the Central Surinamese Nature Reserve, the largest Amazon reserve in the world. The area is rich in unique plants, flowers, and many animal species. After arrival in the afternoon, there is an opportunity to hike and swim.

Special features: In the big dry season (2nd half of August – 1st half of December), the boat trip to Raleigh Falls can take about 6 hours (at normal water levels, it’s about 3 hours)
Day 8: Forest Walk to Voltzberg
You embark on a challenging hike through the pristine rainforest to the base of Voltzberg. During the walk, the guide tells stories about the plants and animals in this area. There’s a chance you’ll see various types of animals, from jumping monkeys to flying orange rock grasshoppers. Then, you climb the 240m high granite Voltzberg. From the top of the mountain, you have a breathtaking view of the Amazon Rainforest. The walk will take approximately 7 to 8 hours in total.

Day 9: Mother Falls
After breakfast, you depart by boat to the famous Mother Falls. Here, you can spend the entire day swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the powerful water mass flowing along the rocks.

Day 10: Raleigh Falls – Paramaribo

Days 12 to 13: Maroon Culture on the Upper Suriname River
Today, you travel further into the jungle by motorized corial via the Upper Suriname River to the island of Isadou. This area has many Maroon villages, where descendants of escaped slaves live. The hospitable population is particularly proud of its culture and is eager to introduce us to centuries-old customs and traditions. Due to the isolated life deep in the rainforest, these have remained untouched. In this part of the river, there are impressive rapids, and during low water, small sandy beaches form. The next 2 days will be filled with adventurous activities such as intensive forest walks, village walks, and exciting boat trips! You stay in a simple wooden house with a view over the Jaw Jaw rapids.

On this final morning at Isadou, you can enjoy swimming or try your hand at fishing. After lunch, you will travel back to Paramaribo where you will stay for the last night.
