General information
Transport
Transport from the city center to the pier is not included in the price. However, we can arrange a transfer for you if you are staying in the center of Paramaribo. The price is €10 per person based on 2 people for the trip to the pier and vice versa.
Departure from the Leonsberg Pier
We will depart from the Leonsberg Pier at 09:00 AM. We will sail up the Suriname River towards Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam.
Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam
Our first stop is Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam, the capital of the Commewijne district. Here, we will visit the open-air museum, where you will learn a lot about the different ethnic groups and the history of slavery in Suriname.
Rust & Werk
Next, we will sail to the former coffee plantation Rust & Werk. Approximately 300 people still live on the former plantation. You will receive a guided tour of the village, and along the way, we will make a stop to enjoy a refreshing coconut.
Frederiksdorp
Our last stop is the former plantation Frederiksdorp, where beautiful renovated plantation houses stand. Here, you will have the opportunity to purchase your own lunch in SRD, and if the occupancy is not too high, you can also take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool. This is a great place to relax and unwind. Around 15:00, we will depart back to the Leonsberg Pier. If we are lucky, we may encounter playful dolphins along the way. We will return to the pier around 16:00, and you will look back on an educational and relaxing day.
