Day 1: Arrival – Paramaribo
Transfer by shuttle bus to your hotel in the heart of Paramaribo, where you will stay for the next 3 nights. All overnight stays in Paramaribo are at this hotel. If you leave Paramaribo for a multi-day tour, you can safely store part of your luggage here.

Day 2: Peperpot Plantation
The district of Commewijne flourished in the 19th century due to its coffee and cocoa plantations. During your visit to Peperpot (one of the most famous plantations in Suriname), you will explore the nature park, the old coffee factory, the plantation houses, and the kampongs. You will also have a special encounter with the friendliest Javanese gardener in Commewijne.

Walking distance: Between 3 and 5 km/ approx. 150 min.

Day 3: Paramaribo City Tour
The historic center of Paramaribo is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In addition to the unique wooden buildings, the ethnic groups living here are characteristic of the city. You will discover the rich history hidden behind the beautiful wooden facades of the buildings.

Special notes: On Monday, Fort Zeelandia is closed, so we can’t enter, but the guide will tell its story from outside. During this tour, you will spend most of the time in the bus; the walking portions last an average of 20 minutes each (hence, the walking distance is not continuous)
Day 4: Paramaribo – Nickerie
Explore the coastal area of Suriname. From Paramaribo, head west – through the districts of Saramacca and Coronie – to Nickerie. See how the residents of each district have preserved their authentic culture and economic activities, giving each district its own character. The day’s program ends in New Nickerie, where you will spend the next 2 nights in a simple but cozy hotel.

Day 6: Nickerie – Paramaribo
